Ironed Out: Back-up banged up in exhibition

Posted Aug 10, 2007

After replacing starting tailback Rudi Johnson, rookie runner Kenny Irons left Thursday's pre-season match-up in the second quarter with an as yet unspecified knee injury. Read the full story for further details.

The night for both backs had started well--a combined 49 yards on nine carries certainly a good start.

It was on a solid seven-yard carry in the second quarter of the Bengals' pre-season opener that Kenny Irons, the resident change-of-pace back, caught a foot up on the turf and left with an unspecified knee ailment.

The rookie running back was carted to the locker room after limping off the field and was submitted for examination, although no official word has been given as to he extent of the injury.

The team, already without back-up Chris Perry, relied on reserves Kenny Watson and Quincy Wilson for the remainder of the game.

More information on Irons as it comes.
