Bengals Bolster Secondary, Sign Adams

A four-year veteran who spent last season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Blue Adams was signed by the Bengals today to a two-year deal.

Brought in to the team's weekend rookie mini-camp as a tryout player, Adams impressed Marvin Lewis and the rest of the coaching staff enough to earn a spot.

Adams, a Miami, Fla. native, played at the University of Cincinnati from 1998-2002, earning defensive MVP honors in his senior season.

Drafted with the sixth pick of the seventh round by Detroit, Adams wound up in Jacksonville and saw action in eight games during his rookie season.

After being out of football in 2004, Adams caught back on with Tampa Bay. Last year with the Buccaneers, Adams played in all 16 games, tallying 19 tackles (all solo) and a forced fumble.

With the losses of cornerback Tory James and safety Kevin Kaesviharn in free agency, the addition of Adams will provide both depth and experience to the Cincinnati secondary.
